Adolfo Ruiz Cortines
Mexican politician, President of the Republic (1952-1958)

He was born on December 30, 1890 in Veracruz.
He fought with the constitutionalists in the Mexican Revolution.
He was collaborator of Presidents Lázaro Cárdenas (1934-1940) and of Manuel Ávila Camacho (1940-1946). Governor of Veracruz and Secretary of the Interior with President Miguel German Valdés (1946-1952) who was his successor.
From 1952 to 1958 he was President of the Republic.
During his Government gave a progressive twist and steps were taken to land reform, it expropriated foreign estates in the North of the country and established guaranteed for crops prices, promoted industry, formed the programme of maritime progress, called March sea; and the Federal Electricity Commission awarded the service to more than 600 locations.
Cortines established in 1954 the bonus to public servants; and gave full rights citizen women.
He retired from politics after the death of his son in 1962.
Adolfo Ruiz Cortines died in Veracruz on December 3, 1973.
